From May 21 to May 22, 2018, the China-US Seminar on Drug Inspection was successfully held in Beijing. This seminar is the first in-depth exchange between China and the United States in the field of drug inspection. Yuan Lin, former Director of the International Cooperation Department, and Erin Morrison, Assistant Director of the Office of Regulation Affairs (ORA) of the US Food and Drug Administration attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
China and the United States conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as regulatory responsibilities of China and the United States, regulations and guidance documents that inspectors follow, risk-based inspection methods, challenges in conducting international inspections, and focused on issues of mutual concern, conduct experience exchanges and open discussions. The former Department of International Cooperation, the Department of Pharmacy and Chemical Supervision, the relevant technical agencies of the former FDA, the directors of provincial drug inspectorate, and more than 90 overseas inspectors from all over the country attended the meeting. A total of 14 people from ORA and its offices in China attended the meeting. Director Ding Jianhua and Deputy Director Sun Jinglin of the Department of Drug and Cosmetic Supervision of the former FDA attended the meeting. Dong Jiangping, the Deputy Director of CFDI of former CFDA, hosted the opening ceremony.
The seminar increased the understanding of the work in the field of drug inspection between China and the United States, increased consensus, and laid the foundation for more extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the field of drug inspection.
