In order to implement the requirements of “carrying out skills training around professional inspector team construction”, to promote the capacity of inspectorate, and improve the professional skills and comprehensive quality of the inspectors, CFDI held the eighth experts’ forum on September 5. At this forum, Dr. Jerry Holmberg and Dr. Thomas Kreil from Grifols, S.A. (GRFS), was invited to give a lecture on “Pathogen Detection and Inactivation of Blood Product”.

Dr. Jerry Holmberg introduced infectious disease testing technologies and risk mitigation, explained the risk management elements of blood products, infectious disease testing evolution in blood donor, patterns of different viral infectivity, serologic and nucleic acid technology (NAT) testing strategy and efficacy in detail. Dr. Thomas Kreil gave a lecture on the methods of virus inactivation and removal. He introduced the importance of virus inactivation and removal of blood products, and emphasized down-scale model, virus Spiking test, GLP compliance and other key elements and the risk and challenge of Emerging Agents.

The Office of Drug and Cosmetics Registration, CDE, CMDE, CFDI of the former CFDA, the Center of Beijing Drug Certification, the Center of Beijing Drug Review, and 22 provincial drugs inspectorates from the whole country synchronously watching through video system participated in the training, totally 370 person participated in the training.
