On March 15th, according to the arrangement of the Department of International Cooperation of CFDA, the Center for Food and Drug Inspection received 8 guests, led by Dr. Mike Ward and Dr. Lahouari Belgharbi from the Department of Essential Drugs of the World Health Organization (WHO). The parties had an in-depth discussion on comprehensive assessment tools for the national regulatory system and on China joining the drug inspection cooperation system (PIC/S). Deputy Division Director Guo Xiuxia from the CFDA Department of Drug and Cosmetics Supervision, Zhang Ying from the Department of International Cooperation, CFDI Director Ding Jianhua, Deputy Director Sun Jinglin, Deputy Director Dong Jiangping and other personnel from relevant divisions attended the reception.

Dr. Ward described in detail the comprehensive assessment tools for national regulatory system, put forward the concept of "institutional maturity", and proposed new ideas and new methods for the assessment of regulatory system. CFDI introduced the roadmap of China joining PIC/S to the WHO experts, and both sides discussed in detail the support from WHO for China's joining PIC/S.
