The Sixth Experts’ Forum Was Successfully Held at the Center for Food and Drug Inspection of CFDA (CFDI)

In order to implement the requirements of “carrying out skills training around professional inspector team construction” of leading Party group of the CFDA, to promote the capacity of inspectorate, and improve the professional skills and comprehensive quality of the inspectors, the Sixth Experts’ Forum was successfully held at CFDI according to the work plan of CFDI Academic Committee on July 28, 2017. Dr Li Jian, Vice President of Domestic New Drug R&D Service Department of WuXi AppTec was invited in this expert forum, and give a lecture on “Current Situation and Development Trends of International New Drug R&D”.

With 20 years of rich experience in new drug R&D and design, Dr Li has taken part in and leaded the preclinical finding and development work in many projects, published more than 80 papers on international academic journals, and applied for and obtained the approval of over 60 patents. At this forum, focusing on the international state-of-the-art new drug R&D field and development trends, he made a detailed introduction from an international perspective, and deeply explained 3 new therapeutic fields, namely, immuno-oncology (IO), functional therapy of hepatitis B, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), as well as 4 emerging technologies, including fragment-based drug design (FBDD), DNA Encoded Compound Library (DEL), flow chemistry, and artificial intelligence (AI) and deep machine learning. With a wide vision, he gave a lecture, novel and comprehensive, including the introduction to the prospect of new drug R&D situation and the sharing of actual new technologies, playing an important role in guiding the related inspection work.

Over 240 people from the Department of CFDI, Pharmacopoeia Committee, Beijing Certification Committee for Drugs, and 17 provincial drug inspectorate from the whole country synchronously watching through video system participated in the training.
