The Ninth Experts’ Forum Was Successfully Held at the Center for Food and Drug Inspection
of CFDA (CFDI) in 2017

In order to implement the requirements of “carrying out skills training around professional inspector team construction” of leading Party group of the CFDA, to promote the capacity of inspectorate, and improve the professional skills and comprehensive quality of the inspectors, the Ninth Experts’ Forum was successfully held at CFDI according to the work plan of CFDI Academic Committee on Octobor 27, 2017. Professor Ding Jie from the Peking University First Hospital was invited in this expert forum, and give a lecture on “Current Situation and Future of Rare Disease in China" in this forum.

Professor Ding Jie is the member of the National Committee of CPPCC and the professor in the pediatric department, who has undertaken the hosts of the member of Standing Committee in International Academy of Pediatrics, the member of council in International Academy of Pediatric Nephrology, the executive member of the council in Chinese Medical Association, the chairman of committee of rare disease branch in Beijing Medical Association in domestic and overseas academic bodies, the subeditor and editorial advisory board member in multiple domestic learned periodicals and reviewers for multiple international learned periodicals. Besides, Professor Ding Jie also has hosted 35 tasks for the state, ministries and commissions, released more than 260 papers in the domestic and overseas, of which the 60 ones have been listed in SCI. She is good at the research and treatment of pediatric kidney disease, clinic diagnosis and treatment for hereditary kidney disease, genetic diagnosis and mechanism research.

In the lecture, Professor Ding Jie firstly had an overall introduction to the definition and scope of rare diseases, international research and relevant policy on rare disease and the industry experience for rare disease, then, introduced the current situation of rare disease in China, which was focused on the academic activities, basic research and research topics of rare disease promoted by Rare Disease Branch of Beijing Medical Association. Finally, Professor Ding Jie analyzed the opportunity and challenges faced by the research on rare disease in our country. The teaching of Professor Ding Jie has allowed the participants to have systemic and clear acknowledge on the rare disease and widened the sights and knowledge scope of the inspectors.

Over 200 people from the Department of CFDI, the Center for Drug Certification of Beijing Food and Drug Administration, and 15 provincial drug inspectorate from the whole country synchronously watching through video system participated in the training.
